.Good Beer Hunting going on hiatus, perhaps permanently, is pretty shocking. But i get it. thanks to gbh for telling so many important stories, many about incredibly diverse communities, and introducing me to some of my favorite writers like Bryan Roth and Kate Bernot.
THANK YOU Michael Kiser Good Beer Hunting for giving me the opportunity to make a tiny contribution to your massive universe of stories. Forever grateful. What an amazing history from blog to internationally recognized platform. I toast to your legacy & impact. Long live GBH! đ»
GBH & Claire Bullen encouraged & elevated my writing in ways i had yet experienced & iâm so grateful for all that i learnt. what a huge legacy they created, a platform that Burum Collective always looked up to this sabbatical leaves a huge hole in drinks publishing
Since 2018, I wrote or co-wrote some 54k words for Good Beer Hunting, plus several podcast scripts in the 4.5-9k range. My doctoral thesis was ~70k words. My lasting thought is that I wish I'd fit more in. Why? Because GBH was/is a community that builds, uplifts, and inspires.đ§”
When Jamaal, Mike Stein, Peter Carr Jones, and I came to them with an insane 10k word series, they platformed not only the text but the community discussions, events, follow-up research, and collab beer that resulted, without hesitation. That's support.
.Good Beer Hunting has truly been a unique platform, publishing great stories that would have never found a home elsewhere It allowed me to work on meaningful pieces like this one: goodbeerhunting.com/blog/2021/9/20⊠which eventually won an award from Beer Writers You'll be sorely missed
âOften, when going over a story that Iâm in the midst of writing, Iâve said to myself âIf GBH covered mountain biking, would they run this story? Or would they reject it and tell me to be better?â Thanks âŠCy Whitlingâ© - [hat tip] bikemag.com/news/weekday-dâŠ
On Tuesday, Michael Kiser announced Good Beer Hunting was ending its run. The next day, the Brewers Association announced that Bob Pease was stepping down as CEO after ten years in the job. Some thoughts about these big transitions. beervanablog.com/beervana/2024/âŠ
Years after craft beer hype peaked, Albanyâs Fidens Brewing Company is attracting huge linesâand even greater fervorâfor its hazy IPAs. In his new Signifier, Will Cleveland explores how the brewery made the scene, and the style, feel new again. goodbeerhunting.com/blog/2024/8/6/âŠ
