Until today there was ban against mining the conservation land on Te Tara Ika/ Coromandel, known as Schedule 4. The Fast Track Bill states that in one area of Schedule 4 will actually be open to mining and that is - Te Tara o Te Ika ( Coromandel Peninsula) ! It’s war on home!

If you live in the Coromandel or have a holiday home in the Coromandel now is the time to ring your local MP and ask why you won’t have say about this.

I’m on the Capital Connection from Shannon. Many people got on. Workers, people visiting friends & family, a mum with kids, a pair going to uni, & someone looking to buy a house. Shannon (pop. 1000) is one of the only small NZ towns with passenger trains. There should be more.

There’s nothing particularly special about Shannon. If people take the train here, it’s a pretty reasonable assumption they would in Pookeno, Rolleston, Rangiora, Te Kauwhata, Te Puke, and countless other towns around the country

Te Huia has battled through Covid, NZTA restrictions & a truncated route during its short life. The PM cites old dodgy data & calls it ‘white elephant’. Yet, its patronage is steadily increasing & it’s adored by passengers. It deserves a fair go. Let’s step up to protect Te Huia
