Urpad Beel, characterised by its distinct identity of pink blossoming lotuses 🪷, is a major destination for tourists – both humans and faunal species. To prevent encroachment and preserve this water body, the #AssamCabinet has declared it as a Proposed Reserve Forest.

We are extensively using drones to survey encroached areas of Hahila Beel and take corrective measures. I tried my hands at operating one today to see the expanse of land we have freed from encroachers recently.

From our recent eviction experience we have seen that people originally from districts 400km away have encroached upon lands in predominantly Hindu constituencies. There is a concerted effort to change the demography of our constituencies.

In the last 4 years, we have freed up over 160 Sq.Km of land in Assam. This is about 75% of the total area of our capital Guwahati!!! We are committed to free EVERY INCH of land from encroachers.

Our forests are for trees and animals, not for illegal settlers who grab lands with the ulterior motive of demographic invasion. We will PROTECT OUR LANDS at any cost.
