Rethinking development in the ASALs is vital both for social and environmental benefits. At GNEI, our core mandate is ensuring the grassroots communities are at the forefront in enhancing resilience while improving their socioeconomic needs.

What does adaptation mean to you? This is enhancing communities to be able to anticipate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from disruptions. With this, transformation happens one action at a time, and one location a time through locally led strategies.

A few years to the completion of the targets for the Sustainable Development Goals. We need enhanced actions to provide food security for communities affected by climate change. Resilience building and providing avenues for sustainable agriculture should be priority action.

For a long time, ASALs have been said to be unproductive and of less value. Through adaptation and resilient measures that are community centred, we aim to change narratives and highlight the potential in the region. #Youth4Adaptation PACIDA IOM Kenya
