The album “Art Collection 1993 – 2008” presents original sculptures and installations by distinguished Greek and foreign artists from the collection of the G & A Mamidakis Foundation. The works make up a colorful kaleidoscope of creativity for all contemporary art lovers.

One of the most common customs, dating back to ancient Greece, is the small bracelet made of white and red thread, called "Martis", and worn by children throughout the month, in order to protect them from the sun.

On Clean Monday, a feast called “Apokrigiomata” takes place at the village of Gergeri. The name takes after the verb “apokrigiono”, which means to cut meat consumption, due to Lent season. These Dionysian customs date back to the ancient Greece, and represent the life cycle.

Oneiromantio is the setting of James Lane’s homonym work, which shows the artist walking around this now forgotten sacred site. The work is part of a broader series exploring oneiromancy in ancient times, a kind of road movie taking in ancient oracles but also modern buildings.

One the greatest Greek poets and thinkers, Constantine P. #Cavafy was born and died on 29th of April. The body of his poetry includes more than 300 poems. Today his poetry comprises a discrete pole in the Greek & world literature.

Minos Beach art hotel, along with the G&A Mamidakis Foundation have teamed up with Travelgems to offer a 3-day free Art Retreat from May 7th to 9th, in Minos Beach social media to discuss why Art is healing.

Blended harmoniously in the gardens of Minos Beach art hotel in Crete, is the "Lost Desires" (1996), by Klitsa Antoniou. An art installation, created during the summer 1996 exhibition of Cypriot artists entitled “Riches of Cyprus” which was held at the hotel.

The latest addition to the Foundation's Collection is "Come with the Wind", which won the gnamamidakis Art Prize 2019. Its sounds represent each wind and are activated by motion sensors when a visitor approaches. Learn more here: bit.ly/2N7GrVy
