Bottom trawling tears up fragile seabed habitats & harms the life that depends on them. Today’s UK Government decision to ban it in 40+ Marine Protected Areas offers hope: a chance to let our seas recover & life return. 🌊 Let's see Marine Protected Areas live up to their name.

Peatlands are precious wild landscapes that capture carbon, help reduce flooding, and support many remarkable plant and animal species. But these ancient, amazing places are being lost and damaged. Choosing #peatfree products is one way to help. More: littlegreenspace.org.uk/features/Prote…

I know swifts get the attention but swallows deserve a puff. They are currently nesting in our basement - the acrobatics involved are spectacular. We are honoured that they have chosen to live with us. #swallows

"There are also fewer older trees, which, along with their soils, lock in carbon from the atmosphere. Alarmingly, many British woodlands have v. few - if any - ancient & veteran trees left." So how about we STOP cutting down so many trees ? bbc.co.uk/newsround/arti…

Camberwell Beauty (Nymphalis antiopa) in northern Greece. If a Purple Emperor gets a regal title, this stunner should get one that trumps that tenfold I think!

Up until a couple of years ago, this roadside verge used to be sprayed off each spring/summer with herbicide. Thankfully it is now managed by mowing instead. It looks fantastic when unmowed & is a refuge for bumblebees & other pollinators.

great incisive film Real Media about our tree & the council consultation - deadline June 17th. please HAVE YOUR SAY to stop the needless felling of our street trees at the whims of the insurance industry who continue to make billions while stripping our streets of trees.

Privatised water monopolies. What is the worst service the customer will accept that delivers the max profit? Does breaking the law add to that profit? That is what regulators and customers are up against.

Blackbirds build deep, cup-shaped nests in shrubs and hedges. Chicks fledge after about two weeks and scatter into nearby cover. Both parents continue to feed them while they learn to forage. #SpringStories
