Love expressed through actions is a large part of Chahta cosmology. Love for Creator, human, and non-human. Our practices are not just “traditions for traditions sake.” They are our way of expressing love.

Christians don’t have the monopoly on love or even transformation of the heart. It takes dehumanization and willful ignorance of Indigenous peoples around the world to believe so.

Diana Williston Indigenous people around the world used christianity as a tool for cultural preservation, reform and restoration. When the discourse is just made about colonisation the resistance and resilience of our ancestors in how they adapted is erased.

It is a free resource that stems from the work that Native communities are doing to prevent Youth suicide through culture based practices. Prior to Culture Forward, so much of what was available about Suicide Prevention in NDN Country, was missing the voices of NDN Country.

The ten years I lived in Antlers was a decade of loss. I lost my older sister, my older brother, and both parents. Tonight when I was Antlers I realized that Antlers—or the time I spent there—taught me how to let go.

9/8 marks the inaugural 988 Day! This annual event is dedicated to spreading awareness of the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and emphasizing the importance of mental health support. Use #988Day to share how the #988Lifeline is about “No Judgment. Just Help.”

This month’s Choctaw Hymn Class/Singing is September 9, 2024. This is held once a month at the Choctaw Community Center in Wright City. Potluck starts at 5:00p.m. (or whenever Solomon shows up with the fried potatoes) and singing lasts till 7:00p.m. Everyone is welcome.
