Taylor Swift’s tour sale is a perfect example of how the Live Nation/Ticketmaster merger harms consumers by creating a near-monopoly. I’ve long urged DOJ to investigate the state of competition in the ticketing industry. Consumers deserve better than this anti-hero behavior.

Broadband is an essential service, for everyone, everywhere. For over 25 years, consumers have enjoyed the convenience of nutrition labels on food products. We’re now requiring internet service providers to display broadband labels for both wireless and wired services.

Visualizations of Einstein's general relativity often show space warping only "underneath" an object--this visual is better:

Today I asked ChatGPT about the topic I wrote my PhD about. It produced reasonably sounding explanations and reasonably looking citations. So far so good – until I fact-checked the citations. And things got spooky when I asked about a physical phenomenon that doesn’t exist.

Mars is a disappointing hellhole lacking practically everything we need to stay alive. Maybe we’ll only ever have crews spend a miserable time underground. Or we could terraform it into a green new world. That's what we're looking at in today's video: kgs.link/TerraformingMa…

Black hole stars may have been the largest stars ever to exist, burning brighter than galaxies. Deep inside, they were occupied by a cosmic parasite, an endlessly hungry black hole. Watch our last video of the year: kgs.link/BlackHoleStar

When a star collapses, it starts spinning extremely fast. And because black holes form out of dying stars, all black holes we know should be spinning too. This makes them even more screwed up in reality than in theory, where black holes are usually referred to as non-spinning.

My power’s really low, so this may be the last image I can send. Don’t worry about me though: my time here has been both productive and serene. If I can keep talking to my mission team, I will – but I’ll be signing off here soon. Thanks for staying with me.

Last night I took my sharpest photo of Mars since I first got into astrophotography 5 years ago. This was captured using a 14" telescope on the sidewalk in front of my house. You can clearly see Olympus Mons!

Yesterday I spent hours capturing this: an intricately detailed photo of the sun shot using a specially modified telescope. Here it is in the full 164 Megapixels, so you can zoom into every nitty gritty detail. That sunspot group on the top is currently pointed right at Earth!
