My team and I are closely monitoring the shooting in Midtown Manhattan. I’m praying for our first responders and everyone at the scene.

I’m heartbroken to learn that the NYPD officer shot in Midtown Manhattan has died. My prayers are with the officer’s family and our entire first responder community.

Officer Didarul Islam was the quintessential New Yorker – an immigrant who built a life dedicated to his community and to public service. Our Bangla community and our city lost a role model. “He said serve the community and you’ll do fine.” nytimes.com/2025/07/29/nyr…

The DOD PFAS Discharge Prevention Act will:   ✅Protect service members from toxic chemicals ✅Prevent drinking water pollution ✅Reduce the need for costly PFAS remediation   It's a commonsense bill. Let's get it passed.

60 years ago, the creation of Medicare and Medicaid conveyed a powerful message: that one's access to health care should not depend on their financial situation.   These vital programs revolutionized care, and they continue to be a lifeline for seniors and low-income Americans.

Dr. Jean Kanokogi is right — it's up to us to support the brave first responders who run into danger to protect our communities. We must come together to pass my bipartisan First Responders Wellness Act and secure mental health resources for the men and women who keep us safe.

In New York, reported cases of Lyme disease have increased tenfold since 2020.   That's why I'm fighting for the Kay Hagan Tick Reauthorization Act, which would support research, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment for tick-borne illnesses. Let's get it done.

I'm grateful for the first responders and MTA employees who helped commuters caught in yesterday's flooding. We must pass my Resilient Transit Act and secure the resources to better prepare our public transportation systems for extreme weather.

Tick-borne illnesses can affect anyone, even your favorite musician.   That's why I'm fighting for legislation and $200 million in federal funding to support research, treatment, and diagnoses for tick-borne illnesses like Lyme disease.

Our 9/11 first responders and survivors deserve timely & comprehensive care. Today, I'm calling on Secretary Kennedy to address staffing shortages at the World Trade Center Health Program & prevent potential treatment delays caused by this administration's ongoing hiring freeze.

🚨 There is an outbreak of Legionnaires' disease — a severe form of pneumonia — in Central Harlem. If you live near the cluster, be on the lookout for flulike symptoms and contact your health care provider if you get sick. cbsnews.com/newyork/news/n…

The Trump administration is planning to gut solar energy funding—again.   New York would have received almost $250 million from these grants, helping lower energy bills, create jobs, and protect the planet. But instead, the administration is bowing to Big Oil. Disgraceful.

Patrol officer Jim Banish knows the mental burden our law enforcement officers carry firsthand. We must pass my First Responders Wellness Act and secure resources for the men and women who dedicate their lives to keeping our communities safe.

Groceries, shoes, cars, clothing, electronics, toys.   What do these have in common? They'll all become more expensive due to President Trump's tariffs.   While Democrats are working to make essentials more affordable, President Trump is driving up costs. It’s unacceptable.

This decision targets service members who answered the call to serve during the height of the Iraq War surge and the start of the surge in Afghanistan. Let's be clear: this decision is wrong and betrays those who stepped up when few others would. airandspaceforces.com/air-force-reti…

Terminating VA union contracts hurts our veterans and the staff who care for them. This administration's relentless attacks on VA employees — many of whom are veterans themselves — are unacceptable. We need to support our vets and the people who serve them, not attack them.

Community health centers provide essential health care to Americans in need — no matter their income. I will always fight to strengthen and expand health centers across New York, and I'm grateful to the extraordinary staff that help provide care. #ValueCHCs
