Please read my statement on the Clacton constituency hustings.

I am now told that the 1st of July, the date proposed for these hustings, is actually the same day Nigel is running a ticketed rally in the constituency. Why do a community hustings to engage with people when you can rant at the converted instead......

I am disgusted by vile comments shouted by Reform thugs published by Channel 4 News. This is the circus I don’t want despoiling my community. Farage says he is “shocked”, but it is his “People’s Army.” This doesn't reflect the true nature of Clacton. We are better than this!

This #ArmedForcesDay I reaffirm my commitment to those who serve to protect our country. As an MP I was proud to have seen first hand the excellent work our troops do, and in Parliament I will continue to push for 3% GDP spending on Defence. Thank you for your service!

Horrible to hear about the fires in #Clacton. I sincerely hope everyone’s ok and will get shelter straight away. I have spent time with our amazing firefighters and know how devoted they are. Well done them!
