Why do we do profiles in some auditions? Always felt like it’s to rule out those who aren’t ‘media thin’ or have a different body type to what’s considered acceptable in western society, or eastern women who don’t have the ski-slope noses deemed beautiful in the west. AIW?

The news that Open Funding is closing is horrendous, and a decision that, along with chronic underfunding across the board, risks turning Scotland into a giant receiving house for work that neither reflects nor employs us. There are so many nails, the coffin is near invisible.

This is devastating news and shuts a lifeline for artists especially at early stages. Love Song to Lavender Menace and Ode to Joy wouldn’t have happened without Open Fund for individuals development grants. I hope this drastic cut is temporary. creativescotland.com/news-stories/l…

I wouldn’t have a career without the Open Fund, and the development of Lost at Sea in particular wouldn’t have been possible without it. No venue was going to commission an unknown first time playwright to write that work. I’m so, so angry for the artists that will suffer.
