Great to see emerging leaders engaging on the critical issue of #GlobalHealth! On the sidelines of #WHA77, DCM Finerty enjoyed the opportunity to meet with Georgetown University MPH students to discuss how the 🇺🇸 leverages multilateralism to address 🌐 health challenges & more.
Monday AM: We attended an event on sexual & reproductive health & rights. We were thrilled to learn about 2 new World Health Organization (WHO) & UNFPA initiatives on #SRHR to showcase success stories & help health systems assess their work and provide tips for improvement. learn-uhc.srhr.org
Monday PM: We learned about long-term and sustainable #publicprivatepartnerships for #healthsystems strengthening with Pathfinder. We heard about the need to incentivize the #privatesector to align with government and community goals through collaboration and cooperation.
Tuesday AM: We attended "How the WHO Acceleration Plan to Stop Obesity is Unlocking Country Action" hosted by the Ministries of Health of Jordan and Spain. During this session we spoke with nutrition, food systems, and climate experts. Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement World Obesity Dr Maria Neira
Later in the afternoon, we attended a special session on the sidelines at the Geneva Graduate Institute Global Health Centre. The conversation, "One Health and Pandemic Prevention in Practice: Global South Leading Innovation" was a strong complement to our conversations about the #PandemicAccord.
We then headed to Campus Biotech to participate in the Geneva Health Forum. We listened to a diverse array of experts speak on global efforts towards the elimination of #malaria and #feminist policies for women's health innovation, specifically related to #pharmaceuticals.
Back with more updates from #WHA77! Wednesday evening we had the honor of attending a timely discussion about pandemic preparedness and response hosted by FIND and the The Independent Panel. Thank you Dr. Ayoade Alakija and Anders Nordström for facilitating this great session.
On Thursday morning, we joined the Foreign Policy #GlobalHealthForum. We listened to a series of panels and had great conversations on various topics relating to the theme of "A Healthier, More Equitable Future for All." foreignpolicy.com/events/fp-glob…
Thursday PM: We heard the patient perspective at the #ChronicKidneyDisease Patient Forum, hosted by Global Patient Alliance for Kidney Health It was an honor to hear patient representatives advocate for prioritization of #CKD on the global health agenda #ForKidneyHealth
We then attended "Reaching the Most Vulnerable Contexts with Immunization," a panel with World Vision, IRC - International Rescue Committee, and VillageReach. We heard from experts, including leaders from Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, on institutionalizing #delivery and the role of #civilsociety in reaching #zerodosechildren
Thursday evening the cohort attended various events including a panel on #partnerships to benefit surgical patients hosted by Operation Smile & Mercy Ships & "Menstrual Health and Hygiene: Self-care from health policy to action" with World Health Organization (WHO) #HumanReproductionProgramme
Other GHGAPS members participated in a dialogue about #complementaryfeedingprotocols with representatives from ActionContreLaFaim, while some attended the Launch of the #AdolescentHealthIndicators, hosted by World Health Organization (WHO) Global Action for Measurement of #Adolescent health (#GAMA)
