Outstanding new book from Springer Nature Drs. Guillem and Garrett Friedman which outlines current management and controversies in #HereditaryCRC syndromes: springer.com/us/book/978303… It even addresses the never-ending question of what to do for #LynchSyndrome and rectal cancer.

One of the many reasons *all* physicians should be Verified. Athletes and actors have their identity verified because they entertain the public. MDs care for, serve, and save the public, yet our identity isn’t verified. Backward?

Opinions on toradol for post-op pain for our Crohns pts? Always have heard no, data seems scarce when I went looking. Curious what everyone else is doing - it certainly helps pain control. Currently not in my Crohns pathway. Steven D Wexner MD, PhD Dr Feza Remzi Amir Bastawrous, MD, MBA, FACS, FASCRS Sean Langenfeld

We use it in our ERAS pathway for all patients including patients with Crohn disease. Anecdotally no issues with increased bleeding/hematoma

I routinely use NSAIDs in postop IBD pts for up to 2 weeks. Never had a problem. Data on causing an early postop flare is largely non existent. Narcotics cause more problems.

Compelling data shows opioid use after surgery in the US higher than the rest of the world. Keep in mind that the Joint Commission and others pushed docs to aggressively treat pain, not to mention the pressure to achieve high patient satisfaction—time to fix this problem.

This sucks. There is no way to sugarcoat this fiasco. Hoping that there is a path to take care of current examinees, and accountability for those responsible for the circumstances American Board of Surgery #MedTwitter

excellent video worthy of re-visiting cadaveric anatomy for the modified Hanley procedure (and how the spaces communicate), plus demonstration of the procedure. a must for residents and fellows to watch! youtube.com/watch?v=GmcJBS…

The reflection on TaTME adoption is refreshing. I’d be equally interested to audit how it was aggressively pushed by certain big names/societies, who simultaneously dismissed robotics. Interesting message sent, particularly on intellectual bias

My first photo shoot after surgery, I'd never taken my top off and showed anyone my "bag" literally felt sick on my journey to Matts studio but sharing that first picture changed me as a person it lifted this huge weight off my shoulders and helped me accept the new me. #stoma
