And the 2024 AGS conference begins! After a welcome from Prof Helen Finch (Professor Helen Finch) and an introduction from AGS president Prof Peter Davies (Peter Davies), now the German Ambassador to the UK, His Excellency Miguel Berger, is “making the case for German”…

The first session of the AGS 2024 lead panel on The Futures of German Studies kicks off with a talk by Louise Earnshaw, Corinne Painter & Ingrid Sharp (University of Leeds) on “Un-disciplining German Studies” and a screening of the collaborative film “Ways of Knowing”

The excellent presentations by University of Leeds colleagues on the lead panel continue with brilliant talks by Frank Finlay, Stephan Petzold and now Sascha Stollhans calling for for more linguisticians in UK German Studies…

Exciting stuff at AGS 2024! Stephan Petzold is introducing the president’s guest, bestselling author Mithu Sanyal, whose novels include Identitti (2021) and Anti-Christie (which will be published later this year)!

A great start to the academic year with AGS conference hosted by German at Leeds! I presented some research, learned a lot from others, met up with some “old friends” & made some new ones! Ready for the final push towards submission now after an inspiring few days!

After three wonderful days at #AGS2024 in Leeds, it was back to work as normal this morning. Thanks to all colleagues who attended and presented their work & huge thanks to the organisers - both the local team at University of Leeds (German at Leeds) and to our VP Anna Saunders 🙏🙏

Really enjoyed speaking alongside Dr Claire Amanda Ross, Dr Eleoma Bodammer, SFHEA & Dr Ben Schofield on our panel on #neurodiversity in German literature & culture at this year's AGS conference! Next up: German Studies Association conference in Atlanta, where I'll be speaking on the neurodiversity roundtable.
