Any wonder there's a replication crisis in sports science Reviewer: There's one paper that shows similar results to yours and is done in a similar way. Your study isnt novel. Reject. Cool 😎 Just single studies needed for understanding phenomena then. Own worst enemies 😒

Because the 'stimulating reps' theory is absolute nonsense & just plainly ignores physiology. Always my 1st question to proponents of it ... what is your definition/ objective measure of 'a stimulating rep'. Usually goes downhill rapidly from there.

Quick trip down to Dublin yday ☘️ Fillet steak Marco Pierre White steakhouse with some 🍷 Then to rock out to the mighty weezer at Trinity College 🤘 That was their best playlist in 20yrs I've been seeing them 🎸

I mean... come on. I know sometimes we 'dont know the context', but the rationale for many of the exercises cannot be strong/ best option. The resistance cables spiderman set up coming forwards into a volley really got me. Is this supposed to be peak Goalkeeper specificity? 🫣

I look forward to the day we consign these random muscle building approaches to the bin. Understanding of neuromuscular physiology & what builds muscle more effectively has moved on.

The reason I watched Italian football. Favourite team to watch ever, other than Liverpool. Pure poetry 🤌 #golazzo #Rossoneri

Something I've challenged force plate users on for CMJ & monitoring 'neuro'muscular fatigue. They dont measure specific neural properties just global mechanical output. may not be sensitive to detect specific types of neural fatigue. Nice Jared Fletcher link.springer.com/article/10.100…

Then your gym program was terrible.... or more than likely you're just making this up for social media. Sprints cannot maximise hypertrophy

Note to students & graduates. If you think being a 'qualified' Hyrox coach has any meaning it just tells me you've tried to circumvent actual proper qualifications from Accredited bodies. All exercise prescription is based off the same fundamental disciplines not a specific event

Said it before, I'll say it again. We dont 'surf the F-V' curve. This oversimplification comes from not appreciating in vivo muscle-tendon interactions during different activities. U actually surf the load-velocity curve. Nice the strength report

Thanks Juan Samudio for the invite onto the Plain Gains Podcast. Bit of a convo around mechanical tension, lengthened partials, training to failure etc. Hope its of interest and reach out if you've any questions.

These are task performance metrics. These are not internal forces or good metrics to decide 'what adaptations you'll get'. That would be estimating the moments, ROM, angular velocity etc. of the hip & knee extensors which are v different btwn these lifts 🏋‍♂️

Happy to see our review published in Experimental Physiology on isometric training at longer muscle-tendon complex lengths as a potential countermeasure during 🚀 to Mars 🏋‍♂️💪👨‍🚀 🙏 to Hans Degens & Andy Sanderson for collab Manchester Met Institute of Sport School of Sport & Exercise Science physoc.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1113/EP…

The amount of anabolic steroids used these days is 🤯💉 U see it in ur gym & so-called SM 'influencers' obviously on them (bt nvr admit it)..& now we start 2 see the ever ⬆️ influencer deaths associated with them And yet some ppl look at that needle and still say yes please 🫤

Case & point. Ive seen this post 1000x. There's enough ppl out there think this is a genuine 'transformation' from endurance to 'strength' athlete & is down to training. It's not, it never has and never will.

Interesting findings from this SRMA: Isos appear ⬆️ than dynamic for iso strength, but ↔️ btwn iso & dynamic for dynamic performance! We've just mentioned something similar in our latest paper- that u can 'engineer' similar changes in dyn perf with multi-angle isos.

Just pubbed! Our new study showed that a descending RIR (4-3-2-1) over 10 weeks elicited similar CSA to using a 1-RIR each session. Suggests periods of intense training may be sufficient to optimize hypertrophy. Kudos to Biology of Physical Activity for spearheading link.springer.com/article/10.100…
