Daniel had a huge victory after fighting for fully backpay after his Centrelink payment was unlawfully stopped due to MOs. His tenacity shouldn’t be needed to get justice, but he’s shown what’s possible. Thanks theRustler for your leadership & Cait Kelly for reporting.

Want to know how messed up the system is? Because it was such a large amount of back pay they had to pay it in instalments. Daniel was fearful if he went to the media they’d stop paying the back pay so cait waited until he got his last instalment before publishing it.

You’d never know it but rents have gone up less than inflation in Australia (and incomes) last 6 years (as they did in the 6 before that.

Today we learned of a shocking, sneaky amendment to the government's income apportionment bill that involves police in social security decisions. We are joining with advocates to call on Labor to abandon police powers to stop Centrelink payments without proper judicial process.

String of scandals hit Centrelink as many had payments illegally cancelled, with several reviews not working legally & gov plans to undertake at least remediation processes for separate issues: robodebt class action, income apportionment & overpaid debts. ACOSS Antipoverty Centre

Centrelink issues suspension to jobseekers & on disability pensions at rate of more than 5 a minute, new data suggests, over the legality of the troubled system. Antipoverty Centre shows 2,683,605 suspension actions in June 2024 & July 2025. Antipoverty Centre Cassandra Goldie🌈

This has been quickly rammed through by Labor & deserves more coverage. The government is amending legislation to allow them to cancel welfare payments of people who are merely ACCUSED of a crime. Deeply authoritarian & absolutely insane to administer live.thepoint.com.au/2025/10/the-po
