1 September 1923 | Dutch Jewish woman, Roza Anholt-Delden, was born in Amsterdam. In July 1942 she was deported from #Westerbork to #Auschwitz with her daughter Christina. They were murdered in a gas chamber after arrival selection.

#OTD in 1941, the Nazi regime announced that all Jews in Nazi Germany would be required to wear the Star of David badge on their clothing. This indicated a shift to more radical anti-Jewish policies. The next month, the Nazis began systematically deporting Jews from the Reich.

1 September 1939 | A Polish Jewish boy, Meilech Raich, was born in Trzebinia. In 1943 he was deported to #Auschwitz from ghetto in Chrzanów. He was murdered in a gas chamber.

3 September 1941 | 1st mass attempt of killing people with pesticide Zyklon B took place in the basement of camp arrest of the German Nazi #Auschwitz camp (Block 13, later Block 11). 600 Soviet POWs and 260 Polish prisoners were murdered.
