Keep hearing of train burglaries in LA on the scanner so went to #LincolnHeights to see it all. And… there’s looted packages as far as the eye can see. Amazon packages, UPS boxes, unused Covid tests, fishing lures, epi pens. Cargo containers left busted open on trains. Not CBS Los Angeles anymore.

Software engineers in Europe who Twitter tried to fire over email are similarly amused, as are they lawyers, and are suing. Said it before and will say it again: thanks to Musk ignoring regulation on how to fire ppl in Europe: it will be much more expensive for Twitter to do so.

Most people didn’t know who Nick Fuentes was a week ago and it’s not like Trump didn’t have racists and nazis in his cabinet, but we still make it the biggest story of the week. We learn nothing.

The Great Railroad Strike of 1877 had the support of 100,000 workers after wages were cut for the 3rd time in a year. Railroad barons used militias, the National Guard, and federal troops to stop the strike by killing about 100 people. They don't teach any of this in school.

Who doesn't love Lake Superior? This is a lovely video, with exquisite music by mandolinist Peter Ostroushko, used with permission of his wife, Marge. It is posted by a new, on-line magazine called "Agate." Enjoy! agatemag.com/2022/11/sweetw…

I will continue to say this until I'm blue in the face: Oil is shipped by rail because oil producers want to. It's faster and more flexible. A pipeline takes years to build and years more to pay for itself. The solution here is to improve the safety of the tracks and the trains.

If the tribe of weirdos had a king and queen, they were cartoonists Robert Crumb and Aline Kominsky-Crumb. Both separately and in their collaboration, they opened a path for the countless artists exploring comics as a form of self-exploration. bit.ly/3FCXHy9
