Looking at A level grade boundaries. To get an A Star grade in French (AQA), you must average 90%. The highest of any subject. To get an E grade, 42%. Imagine getting a U with 41%. In Chemistry, 20% is an E. 42% is a C. #ResultsDay2025 No wonder students are not taking MFL…

I hope A level results went well this morning. As I read analysis here and there, I'm always very much in favour of creating a separate language exam for native speakers. It's so unfair on all the others. AQA, Pearson Edexcel, up for the challenge? We need action!

I am so excited for this tournament. If you haven't watched Women's rugby, you so need to give it a go. Fast. Furious. High skill. Attacking. Often plenty of tries and high scoring. Often more entertaining than the constant scrums and resetting of scrums in the men's game.

I find the argument that teachers don’t know how to predict exam grades offensive towards staff professionalism. I’m yet to meet a colleague who doesn’t give this careful thought. The variable they can’t account for is shifting grade thresholds - that’s the issue.

I can’t expect other people to care about the death of Ruth Perry as much as I do. You didn’t know her, I can (and have) spoken at length about the great many ways she was an amazing headteacher but those are just words to you, it is not your lived experience, I 'get it'…

The creator of Erasmus, Sofia Corradi from Italy has died aged 91. She was known as "Mama Erasmus". Erasmus changed my life in very unimaginable ways. It was the beginning of my European journey back in 1991. Thank you Mama Erasmus ♥️
