Is Babel a good read? On one side, critics argue that it's heavy-handed, claiming the author uses her characters as mouthpieces for her ideas rather than letting the themes emerge organically from the story. The other side hails it as a masterpiece.

A while back, I read this Russian novel about an aristocrat who refused to get out of bed. He was so religious about his laziness that he even named it a disease. There was a moment where he felt agony for having dotted his 'i's and crossed his 't's. I can't remember the name 😢

Trent Reznor bears such a strong resemblance to Alan Rickman's Severus Snape that even fanart of him reminds me of the way people draw Severus 😭 Here an example credits: shinesvesta (on Pinterest)

The Dark Mark is his Original Sin. Similar to Eve eating the apple, Severus's acceptance of the Mark is his damnation, and its consequence is his suffering. However, just as some gnostic scholars view the serpent as a liberator, his death (snakebite) ultimately liberates him.

My love for Barty Crouch Jr. is for all the wrong reason. I love that he's a wicked, unhinged nutcase. That man stood 10 toes behind Voldemort and I respect the hustle. I don't want him to be secretly good, morality ambiguous, or complex. He's perfect the way he is.

Severus enjoys the literary works of Muggle authors, whereas his reading of wizards' works is strictly academic. I can see him enjoying books by Emil Cioran, Clarice Lispector, Kobo Abe, and Krazsnahorkai. He reads them under that tree he sits by.

When I think of Severus, Marian by the Sisters of Mercy plays in my head. They probably used him as the blueprint. open.spotify.com/track/4wBLUjwy…

I forget how lovely an instrument the accordion is. And that applies to all types of accordions. I don't have a favorite (it's the bandoneon). Every now and again, I rediscover its music and fall in love all over again. And then I forget.

Severus says "Another win for the deaf" anytime Sirius voices his opinion in the Order meeting. Trust me on this🤞

With the way some of you discuss Dumbledore "faults" in the Marauders' personal downfalls, you'd think he's the equivalent to this
