Please, why is this mole dead like this on my front lawn? Do they dig themselves above ground to die? Was it waterlogged (been raining all night) and died from exhaustion after tunneling to the surface? What is that orange patch on its chest? Why so dramatic in death, little one?

Key messages from this new paper: 1. We can monitor tropical forest canopy temperatures at a large scale & estimate the frequency of potentially lethal leaf temperatures. 2. We can avoid large-scale leaf/forest loss due to heat by reducing CO2 emissions and deforestation (1/4)

Kinda wild to know someone out there read my story three times, took notes, and did a podcast episode on it. Thanks, Ben and Matthew Doggerel Diaries, for spending so much time (apropros) with "Continental Drift," most cozily housed in Story Literary Magazine.
