Councillor Trent Sullivan was elected unopposed by Council tonight as Greater Geelong’s new Mayor. He becomes the fifteenth mayor since the amalgamated City of Greater Geelong was formed in 1995. Cr Anthony Aitken, from the Windermere Ward, was elected unopposed as Deputy Mayor.

A district ride centre would contain features such as dirt jumps, an asphalt pump track and a skills trail, which has been proposed as an alternative to the high number of makeshift jumps being created in Ocean Grove. A Community Reference Group will assist in its detailed design

Blue Waters Lake Reserve is a unique wetland habitat in Ocean Grove, and residents want to protect its natural environment and amenity. The master plan will guide Council’s investment priorities and the staging of works.

This strategy aims to help the City remain financially sustainable and deliver community benefit by supporting golf clubs and facilities and ensuring public access to courses. It was developed in consultation with a range of stakeholders including Golf Australia and local clubs.

We’re supporting a range of community events to mark 26 January. It’s always a privilege to host citizenship ceremonies, and we’re looking forward to welcoming 300 new residents to our region tomorrow.

We’re also supporting the Lara Australia Day Breakfast, Australia Day at Portarlington, the Rippleside Family Fun Day, and the Festival of Sails.

We acknowledge that for some people in our community, this is a day to celebrate, while for many First Nations People it represents a day of mourning, sorrow and survival.
