Why do we love cake and ice cream? My lab's latest paper in Cell Metabolism led by Molly McDougle, PhD identifies separate gut-reward circuits for fat and sugar. Foods combining fat and sugar recruit both reward circuits to increase motivation to overeating. authors.elsevier.com/sd/article/S15…

Clip from my conversation with Guillaume de Lartigue: "Gut-Brain Communication, Vagus Nerve, Fats & Sugars, Food Addiction, Gut Hormones & Weight Loss Drugs" In this clip, we discuss artificial sweeteners, gut hormones like leptin and GLP-1, and how the newest weight loss drugs work.

Had a really great off-the-cuff discussion with Nick Jikomes Nick Jikomes from the Mind Matters podcast about our recent paper and much more related to food choice, non-nutritive sweeteners, and glp1 drugs.

Amazing work in nature from my colleague AmberAlhadeff identifying the hindbrain as the site of action of GLP1R agonists. They were able to dissociate the satiety and aversive effects of these drugs paving the way for improved anti-obesity drugs. Groundbreaking research!

I am super honored to have been invited by the student committee on neurometabolism! Can't wait to visit Quebec City and meet everyone. It's going to be "hyper chouette"!

Amazing trip to Quebec City. Olivier Lavoie and Alex Caron were awesome hosts. Great scientific discussions, saw some of the sites, and had great delicious food. Even had my first "running meeting" with Vicky Drapeau. Thank you for the invitation Student Committee in Neurometabolism!
