Talking about Wilt’s 100 on 670 The Score with Laurence Holmes in #Chicago. As an interviewer, Laurence is the real deal. He cares about people & about history, a potent combo. A quintessential good guy.
We just passed the 60th anny of the Dipper’s 100 pts vs the NEW YORK KNICKS. On the eve of the NBA Finals, it’s worth noting Wilt’s 100 belongs to the Golden State Warriors franchise (though while in Philadelphia). #WILT1962 was a joy to research.
As #Celtics duo Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown dig for their first #NBAChampionship, Gary M. Pomerantz discusses the 50s and 60s duo Bob "Cooz" Cousy and TheBillRussell and what it took to become #Boston's 6x NBA Champions 👉 forum-network.org/lectures/gary-…
Such a joy to spend time on Fri with staffers at my alma mater, the The Daily Californian. The Daily Cal has existed since US Grant was president. With this energetic bunch, it’s in good hands. UC Berkeley Jim Rainey
Looking forward to participating in this Nov 15 event at Stanford University. Has it really been 40 years since The Play? 40 yrs since the trombonist Gary Tyrrell got pancaked? 40 yrs since the fake The Daily Californian filled the Sproul racks? Thanks to Tyler Bridges new book, there is much to discuss
Dear Professor Jeffrey Wooldridge, It’s true that, for our coed team, I chose the name — The Smiths. Don’t forget, I also chose our second basewoman, now my bride of 37 1/2 years.
As I researched my book Their Life’s Work about the 1970s Pittsburgh Steelers, former teammates needed to know if I’d yet interviewed #FrancoHarris. Once I had, they agreed to talk to me. Franco was that respected, that loved. Classy, wonderful guy. #MrPittsburgh
So proud to speak @ my alma mater, UC Berkeley to 200 library donors.I loved being intro’d as ‘former sports editor of the The Daily Californian.’ My topic, The Enduring Legacy of a Great Teacher, celebrated my History profs Leon Litwack & Larry Levine, campus legends #Emotional UC Berkeley History
“I just say to myself, ‘Make Litwack proud.’” 🌟 At a UC Berkeley Library talk, journalist and author Gary M. Pomerantz spoke about writing, the Celtics, and the teaching “giants” who inspired him at Cal. Here are 3 things we learned. ⏩ ucberk.li/luncheon-2023 UC Berkeley History
A day at the beach with the new MLK bio by Jonathan Eig. I’m 300 pages in, enjoying it immensely. #KING
