New Arrival local Ancient Woodland. False Puffball aka Cauliflower Slime Mould Reticularia lycoperdon appears Creamy Yellow when newly emerged, before turning Silvery-White. Here at the feeding stage, it can easily change shape overnight! Sarah L #myxomycetes #SlimeMouldSunday

Impressive looking Dryad's Saddle Polyporus squamosus local Ancient Woodland this evening. Britain's largest capped Mushroom, this one all of 50cm, can reach 60cm plus. You can see from intricate Brown scales why they're nicknamed Pheasant's Back! Sarah L #MushroomMonday

DNA verified Sclerotiniaceae sp. ‘CA02’ growing on a tan oak acorn in Sonoma County, California. The third known observation of this apparently rare and likely undescribed species. Sequenced by Mycota Lab. iNat 229196445 / MO 489006 #fungi #ascomycota #macro

Rust on Spindle tree (Euonymus europaeus) from Fishchowters Lane,Totnes yesterday. It's a Melampsora genus but species are a bit confusing. It could be epitea (as seen on Salix) or possibly euonymi-caprearum, or maybe some species complex that we don't quite understand.
