We braved the bitterly cold wind near Galashiels yesterday to look at lapwing habitats & wader scrapes - an impressive level of commitment & some really valuable conservations for this excellent group of farmers, birders & gamekeepers! In this month’s Field magazine, my piece on why ‘nature & climate friendly food cannot be bought for bottom dollar’. Sadly, with this week’s pulling of the final pillar of ELM by government, the task of feeding the country & helping nature just got infinitely harder.

Thanks to everybody who came to our Wader Gathering at Mar Lodge yesterday - we had conversations which will help to shape future agri-environment policy for waders, support predator control and enable farmers and land managers to do great stuff for lapwings and curlews 👍

We are delighted to be partnering with The Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust on this project that aims to highlight the importance of proper conservation, biodiversity and both pest and predator control. We have a duty to protect and promote our wildlife, particularly those under threat.

Didn't expect this comical face in one of our kestrel boxes. I expect that's the end of any kestrel wishing to move in this year.... #egyptiangoose #invasivespecies

This mountain range near Sanabria in north-western Spain is home to the Pyrenäen #greypartridge, an endangered subspecies of Perdix perdix. At 1600-2000m.a.s.l, this population is as tough as a partridge gets. Several in this group were lucky to see for themselves last week.
