We have no doubt that all our students are eagerly looking forward to returning to Gallen Community School in the next number of days. Gallen Community School will begin the new academic year by welcoming our new First Year students this Friday for their induction day.

Best of luck to Gallen Community School Leaving Certificate Class 2025 as they prepare to receive their exam results tomorrow morning. As always we would love to see all students tomorrow and share in the excitement of their day.

Congratulations to 5th Year student Sophie McDonagh & her Leinster Rugby teammates on their victory over Connacht in the final of the PwC Girls Under-18 Interprovincial Series last Saturday. Sophie, at centre, scored the opening try for her side. Well done from all in Gallen CS!

1st year History students learning to be archaeologists at work. Students excavated chocolate chip artefacts from cookies, recording their finds as they went. All were sealed safely in an airtight container ready for display in the National Museum. Thanks to Ms. Molloy Roche.

Gallen CS students have been playing pitch & putt over the summer. Congrats to last week’s winners: Oran, Charlie & Sean Grennan (1st), & Dylan, Conal & Aaron Kenny (2nd). Competitions resume each Wednesday at 3pm. Thanks Mr. Doyle & Ferbane Pitch & Putt Club.

Today we celebrated our Opening School Mass. Thanks to Fr. Peter who led the liturgy, our choir, Mr. Maher, our musicians and all staff and students involved. Thanks to TY student Sorcha for her amazing artwork for our booklet. Special thanks to Ms. Murray our school Chaplain.

Our 2nd year Geography class took advantage of our schools location & brought their learning to the River Brosna. They identified a meander, observed how the river transports & sketched it. Thanks to Ms. McNeill encouraging students to apply knowledge to the world around them.

A Town Centre First Plan was presented to the local community in Gallen CS last week. Former student Kieran Guinan presented his 3D models of the town. He also consulted with primary & Gallen CS students with Ms. Molloy-Roche for their impression of & vision for the town.
