Congratulations! This is such incredible news and a testament to the power of an elected Park Board that advocated for the Little Yellow Schoolhouse to ensure it wasn’t destroyed and buried in our overflowing dump.

One the most meaningful projects I’ve ever been a part of.
We wish the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw | Squamish Nation many years of play, learning, and discovery in their new ta tsíptspi7lhḵn language nest
✨

“It’s the Squamish Nation that deserves the credit,” Lewis said.
“If it wasn’t for the Nation stepping forward, we wouldn’t have been able to rescue this beautiful building.”
Many thanks to all who helped make this project a reality ♻️🏡 Wilson Williams

The renovation is complete and It looks beautiful inside. A home for our Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw | Squamish Nation language and little ones. A gathering space for years to come.
Tomorrow Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw | Squamish Nation opens the repurposed Little Yellow School House. A Nest for children to learn their language and culture.
At first, when we asked to save the building from demolition VSB & VPB staff told us “no.” We fought hard and won. This should be the new norm.
