Some had tarps to cover themselves with but the wind didn’t cooperate. There was lots of wet cardboard and plenty of moving around for us, but we raised $388k as of 5am this morning. 🥹 There are so many generous people to thank. Covenant House Vancouver

What a great story, a stapled journey, history in the making. Intimate Reconciliation and comfort for our people to now be using this “now” home to our language. My wife says, all we’re allowed to speak in the house is our language! O’siem!

Thnx to Coquitlam City Council for having us present our Home Waste Prevention: Municipal Action Plan.

2,700 SFDs are demo’d / yr across Metro Van. We’re calling on council’s to create stronger incentives for responsible removal solutions: home relocation or deconstruction ♻️

The renovation is complete and It looks beautiful inside. A home for our Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw | Squamish Nation language and little ones. A gathering space for years to come.

Tomorrow Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw | Squamish Nation opens the repurposed Little Yellow School House. A Nest for children to learn their language and culture.

At first, when we asked to save the building from demolition VSB & VPB staff told us “no.” We fought hard and won. This should be the new norm.
