Design systems are fun because in no other context would a designer go to their company’s leaders and say “we need to take this very well-trodden approach to improve our efficiency” and be told “OK as a TREAT you can have a go, but keep doing your normal job as well”

An extreme example of just how infuriating, let alone frightening it is for some of my colleagues who just go to work to be brilliant shop keepers for their communities.

Unbelievable comment that completely misses the point. In 80% of cases where Co-op do make ‘citizens arrests’ the police don’t turn up so we have to let them go. The priority has to be an effective police response to build on what businesses are already investing in.

We've been actively campaigning for a step up in police response to retail crime, so I gladly welcome the newly announced Retail Crime Action Plan. Co-op is ready to work with every police force across the UK to keep our colleagues, our stores and the communities we serve, safe.
