While we all certainly hope that H5N1 influenza doesn’t mutate into a strain that causes a pandemic in humans, there is the distinct and unnerving possibility that it does, as Alex Tabarrok (h/t Patrick Collison) and commentary in the NEJM have recently noted.
As I bid farewell to India after serving as the 26th U.S. Ambassador to this amazing country, my heart is full. You’ve given me a second home, a family of friends, and memories that will last a lifetime. Today, I leave as more than an ambassador—I leave as a lifelong friend and
Long title and a year late - but still a pretty interesting paper. Great collaboration with Simon Lab (ISMMS). XBB.1.5 monovalent vaccine induces lasting cross-reactive responses to SARS-CoV-2 variants such as HV.1 and JN.1, as well as SARS-CoV-1, but elicits limited XBB.1.5
Happy to be able to contribute to this very cool preprint of Gagandeep,The Boons Group, The Ward Lab, and Florian Krammer Characterization of the glycoproteins of novel fish influenza B-like viruses biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
Did you know there are influenza B-like viruses in fish? You want to know more? We characterized HAs and NAs of these novel viruses together with Gagandeep Singh| ਗਗਨਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ , Robert P. de Vries , The Boons Group, The Ward Lab and Simon Lab (ISMMS) biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
🧬🐟 Novel fish influenza B-like viruses show unique receptor preferences & no cross-reactivity with human antibodies! Are we immunologically naïve to these aquatic flu cousins? 🔬 Preprint by Florian Krammer,Robert P. de Vries 👉 doi.org/10.1101/2025.0…
Have you heard of H15? That's a rare avian influenza subtype. Disha Bhavsar from my lab and André Nicolás León from The Ward Lab looked into mAb-H15 structure complexes, antibody responses and antigenic drift. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
Did you know amphibians and fish have viruses that are very similar to human influenza B viruses? We didn't know either, but Eddie Holmes found them and we had a closer look at their HAs and NAs. with Gagandeep Singh| ਗਗਨਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ The Ward Lab Robert P. de Vries Disha Bhavsar science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…
