An example of how NOT to set up your website buyer options. Choosing wool colour by number? LOL! Sadly lots of #charity websites are like this with designation options that make little sense to the #donor. Eg. Community Fund or Development Fund. What do these mean? #fundraising

Husband got this today. The intention is good but it’s an example of too little, far too late for those affected by #Australianbushfires. And who wants to fill out a new direct debit form to #donate? #fundraising

Talking to a friend in New York about their #coronavirus numbers. “Ours are going down now - it was over 800 deaths yesterday, today was in the 500s.” Puts our Australian situation in perspective. Social distancing is a pain but we don’t have hundreds dying each day!

Spent ages working on a donor care newsletter then was depressed at the Flesch-Kincaid readability score of 10 (I normally aim for 5 to 7 - 8 at the highest). I ran their previous internally-written newsletter through FK - a score of 20! Yikes! I suddenly felt much better...

Why is it that when preparing an email to your list, you need to send yourself at least 6 test versions to catch every wrong link, spelling error, formatting gone wrong, header preview you forgot to change, etc. Even if using a checklist! Anyone else have this problem?

I don’t think I even get a chance to panic with all the #copywriting #deadlines I have! Just straight to the green arrow... #fundraising #directmail

I think SMS has become a thing during #coronavirus. My phone has been running hot with #fundraising texts. I assume the ping rate on June 30 tomorrow will be even higher! But it's good all these #charities and #nonprofits are asking!

#Fundraising #copywriters: 2-page fundraising letters are often harder to write than 4-page fundraising letters. And they don't always take less time.

My limit for a #fundraising EDM is 400ish words. Yesterday I wrote a 750-word EDM. Even I thought it too long. I even suggested to the client what to cut. They sent it out unchanged. It raised 2-3 times more than usual. Don't believe those who say long EDMs won't raise money.

Today x 5: "We desperately need to raise more $ b/c {mission}" OK. Do this. "Rly? Seems weird." OK. Here's proof x3. "Do not like." OK. Understood. But $. "Do. Not. Like. Not doing." OK. "Need $ plz. What do?" Why is this hard? #fundraising

#Fundraisers and #Copywriters: Here's the reason I don't like sending written interview questions to people over email. You get back corporate answers like this. Lesson: people don't write in the same way that they speak.
