🧵The gross misconduct hearing for three police officers over the strip search of Child Q has begun. Who is Child Q you may ask? She was a 15-year-old Black girl who was strip searched at school with no appropriate adult present after a teacher said she smelled of cannabis. 1/4

Child Q told the female officers who were searching her that she was on her period but that didn't make a difference. They made her remove her sanitary pad and bend over so her genitals were exposed. Remember she was just 15. When no drugs was found they scoured her hair. 2/4

Again no drugs were found. Her parents were not contacted by the school before or after the incident and when they complained it was initially dismissed. Once the incident became public knowledge the head of the school in Hackney, east London, resigned for 'health reasons'. 3/4

Met Police went on to apologise and a Safeguarding Practice Review found racism was 'likely' to have influenced the incident. Child Q is now 20 and suffered mental harm from her ordeal. I hope all the officers involved are sacked and prosecuted too. 4/4 theguardian.com/society/2025/j…
