I co-taught a 6 hour workshop today on introduction to unix. The audience was graduate students /post docs with little experience but a need for this in their research. For so much of it, I wondered to myself “what would be a good prompt to do this task”.

IMHO, AI is good for: ✅ Data analysis ✅ Robotics ✅ Summarising long articles ✅ Translation, speech recognition etc ✅ Certain types of coding tasks ✅ many other things I don’t have characters for AI is NOT good for: 🤮 content creation I just hate AI slop more each day

I post more about Palestine because of my personal connection. But the crisis in Sudan is just as awful. If you’re a US citizen, we subsidise this atrocity by selling weapons to the RSF (via UAE). Weapons to UAE become dead babies in Sudan. Think about this next time you vote🙏

I just started using Obsidian to manage the LARGE amount of information I need to keep track of and maintain for all the spinning plates in my life. Anyway, it’s amazing and I don’t know how I managed it all before. (ok, I do know. The answer is poorly. I managed poorly.)
