I think one of the biggest and most harmful trends in baseball analysis is to treat a baseball season like it's a football season and massively overreact to small samples. Fans do it. Sports talk radio does it. Even quality analysts do it. Teams don't, and shouldn't, do it.

Not hard to argue that Wiggins is one of the top 5 or so best pitching prospects in the entire sport.

Funny enough I imagine the Cubs are hoping he finishes 3rd as he'll be awarded a full year of service time if he finishes in the top 2. Horton is also a sneaky extension candidate, and I imagine that becomes even more so if he gets that full year of service time.

$350K is a pretty large amount for an IFA arm and I'm not sure anyone had any idea the Cubs had that much money left.
