Some isolated hail damage in Norfolk County Wednesday evening. Producer applied fungicide Thursday in attempt to retain as much green as possible for as long as possible. Will be interesting to see how this turns out. Was / is a big potential yield.

Considering tank-mixing a nitrogen stabilizer in your corn weed-and-feed? Good decision! Thinking of using a premix of UAN and ATS as a carrier? Well, give this a read first: sprayers101.com/nitrogen_stabi… Mike Schryver

Dry weather will significantly slow N uptake. There can be 10x the amount of N needed next to the roots, but the corn will fire if N is in dry soil. Fall/Early Spring knifed-in N should look better. N is placed where there is still soil moisture moving to plant roots.

The problem here is that a few years ago I put on quite a bit of K thinking that was going to take me higher. One lady had the right answer. The mg:k ratio is off. It needs to be 2:1. I screwed it up with my heavy K app. Moisture is not a problem. We have adequate moisture.

It can be easy to get discouraged with weed control this year caused by lack of rainfall to activate the products. Although not perfect, a look at a miss next to a laneway shows pre-emerge programs still bring value even in a dry year

All the buzz on tarspot in #ontag but don’t forget about other diseases like Gibb and Northern Leaf Blight. Found some Northern, and wbc egg masses in a commercial field this afternoon. Don’t forget your safety glasses or face shield!

An early start to the #glgtour2023 today to try and beat some of the afternoon heat. Heat and sunshine is what we need right now to move this crop along. Yesterday's findings were a very consistent corn crop in Brant, Oxford and Norfolk but the crop is behind in maturity.

Top yield potential knocked out of this bean crop. White mold isn't region specific. 2 days and 380km of distance. Currently more fields have white mould present than not. #GLGTour2023

#glgtour2023 where are we on CHU? based on Ridgetown we are 205 CHU behind a year ago. We will need at least 20 days in September at present daily CHU to reach 3000. Most corn fields in the region are at beginning of R5 Dent another 30+ days to black layer

Pretty impressed with the latest addition to our southern regions custom application fleet. This investment represents Central Ontario FS continued support of the 4R principles of nutrient stewardship. Look forward to seeing it in action! centralontariofs.ca/sustainability
