If Christians and conservatives care about reaching young women, their mission must be to heal their troubled hearts, to still their racing minds, to mend their broken trust. | Freya India firstthings.com/the-right-has-…

Most young women I know think of ĀChristianity as controlling, if they think of it at all. They see conservatism as oppressive. Young women are now less religious than men, and moving far to the left. I think I know why. The right has forgotten feeling. firstthings.com/the-right-has-…

ā€œDon’t we see that many young women haven’t abandoned faith…but were born into a world already desecrated? That they haven’t forgotten their worth but were never taught it?ā€ ⁦⁦Heartbreaking & spot on ⁦Freya India⁩ ⁦First Things⁩ firstthings.com/the-right-has-…

"Those who actually need help will not be reached by theological lectures on marriage or family. What they need right now is someone to give expression to the wound of growing up between two homes, someone who dares to talk about the pain." firstthings.com/the-right-has-… Freya India

Had a very interesting conversation with my friend Elliot Bewick about what social media has done to our generation, our romantic relationships, and our ability to have faith in one another. You can watch here: youtu.be/3wF0AMWJkhg

It’s often said that my generation has lost faith. We are losing faith in God, in love, in the future. But I’m not sure that’s true. We never learnt faith to begin with. We have been trained to doubt. My latest for GIRLS: freyaindia.co.uk/p/why-we-doubt…

We live in a culture of doubt. People will call your hope naivety, your faith in the world ā€œprivilegeā€, your convictions an agenda, because faith in a world of doubt is threatening. Chronic doubt is contagious. freyaindia.co.uk/p/why-we-doubt…

I think we distrust each other enough now; we don’t need any more "red flags" or reasons to be suspicious. What we need to learn now is loyalty. Now is the time to work on our waning ability to love, to depend, to forgive, to stick with it, to have some hope.

Relationships are so difficult today because we are obsessed with our freedom. When every compromise feels like an affront to your rights, every person a distraction and inconvenience, every commitment a burden, it's agony. I'm starting to think real freedom is found in devotion.

I feel like we have forgotten the word "morals" and replaced it with "boundaries". We tell young people to walk away from disrespect, but fail to follow up with walk toward something. We need more than just arbitrary boundaries to avoid being hurt. We need something to live by.

We celebrate lifelong marriages, we praise decades of determination, but keep telling young people not to do that. Don’t commit too young, don’t compromise at this age, you can never be too sure. We admire the milestone but discourage what it takes to actually get there.

This piece by Freya India in last month's issue of First Things is critically important. Yes, we need facts and logical arguments on the right. But to speak to broken young people, we need to reach more deeply into the reality of their experience of the modern world.

Great essay by Elizabeth Grace Matthew on the central problem confronting conservatism today: ā€œthe young women who most need to imbibe traditional values are constitutionally unable to do so. They cannot keep emotion in perspective, because they have no perspective. And they are not
