Our Digital Navigator, Nathan, led a “Train the Trainer” workshop with Oregon Spinal Cord Injury Connection! Participants explored the role of Digital Navigators, effective teaching strategies, how to make referrals, share resources, and offer practical digital support.

We had an amazing weekend at Take Care Cornelius, collecting over 2,000 lbs of tech! 🙌 Huge thanks to Shred NW for handling shredding duties and to everyone in the community who stopped by to drop off their old electronics. ♻️💻

What a weekend! This year’s Green Days Recycling Event with Fred Meyer and the Portland Trail Blazers was our biggest yet-over 8,000 lbs of tech recycled in just 3 hours! We had a blast collecting donations with help from Blaze the Trail Cat, Fred Bear, and the Blazers stunt team.

Free Geek continued our partnership with Home Forward this week, teaching our Internet Safety curriculum to participants who each took home a new laptop! 💻 Next month, we’re bringing our programming to a new Home Forward location- one step closer to bridging the digital divide.

This week, our team set up 15 desktops at African Refugee Immigrant Organization (ARIO) (African Refugee Immigrant Organization) to help furnish their space and ensure every staff member has a dedicated, functional workspace. Supporting organizations like ARIO helps us build stronger, more connected communities! 💻

Join us on Saturday, August 30th from 11am - 4pm at 1731 SE 10th Ave. for another Pop Up Shop. Browse through a nostalgic array of affordable technology including laptops, cellphones, vintage tech and niche accessories that span generations of digital innovation.

Free Geek participated in Groundscore Associations Community Wellness Fair, with the goal of bridging the gap between Old Town community members and the resources they need by inviting local organizations to build connections with the community.

Free Geek and Guerreras Latinas hosted a special Saturday class for families who can’t attend during the week due to work schedules. This multigenerational group of parents and their high school students, received 28 brand new laptops, opening doors to education and connection.

Our Digital Navigators wrapped up a Keyboard Basics class this week at Home Forward’s Gallagher location! Next week, participants will take home their very own laptops- equipped with new digital skills to match!
