Winter OSR undersown with lucerne #livingmulch. Nice and green in the bottom ready to get reset by disc mowing tomorrow and then do some sunlight conversion. Keep it green and growing. Hopefully nice forage cut in 8 weeks time.

Winter OSR harvested yesterday. Disc mower resetting #livingmulch today. Plan is regrowth within the next 8 weeks before notill winter wheat. while retaining the lucerne clover mix for next 4 years. It’s already green and growing. Gaining a head start compared to cover crops.

It’s the same in EU. Useless ban on neonics which have little effect on bee colony losses and bee pop health. Time to bring back neonics. While actually doing something to protect bees.

One week since reset mowing and two weeks since winter milling oat harvest. Lucerne #livingmulch with some patchy regrowth but it will even up. small plants suppressed by harvest traffic still to recover. This is now 3rd autumn growth season from same seeding while cash cropping.

Putting in ultra early drilled BYDV resistant winter hybrid barley into the new first year #livingmulch understory. Hopefully the barley seedlings will establish and survive in the bottom of the legume crop for the next 8 weeks ish.

Ecologists, agroecologists, and regenerative agriculture advocate for biodiversity as a solution to many agricultural challenges. However, the research supporting this approach is often not directly applicable to crop production. Read on to learn why... csanr.wsu.edu/why-ecological…

Nice regrowth in the 3rd year lucerne #livingmulch field. That is 3 cash crops harvested and sold while keeping the same lucerne crop in the bottom to do autumn growth capturing N and sunlight.

Spot the winter barley rows of next seasons #biannualcereal grain cash crop. New #livingmulch field just off WOSR now swapped and undersown with winter barley ahead of autumn forage cuts and grazing.

Let’s have a talk about the small trial where I have already undersown next years #biannualcereal winter hybrid barley into the new young first year Lucerne #livingmulch field. Excited to find out how this one turn out.

Last month we had a sub surface drain blowout. Really reveals how epic alfalfa roots are in our #livingmulch field after winter oats. Much much more deep rooting than surface growth would indicate. Feeding deep soil layers with important C and nutrients.
