High Court hears Enoch Burke ◾️is still being paid his full salary ◾️ hasn’t paid any fines for contempt ◾️ is in prison at the cost of the state He’s back in court for a review of his detention for failing to comply with order to stay away from his former school.

Enoch Burke was fired from Wilson’s Hospital School after a finding of gross misconduct was made against him. He intends to appeal that decision internally. As it stands, the school’s barrister confirmed he’s still being paid his full salary.

Enoch Burke is on his way back to Mountjoy Prison after once again refusing to give an undertaking to stay away from Wilson’s Hospital School. This is his 172nd consecutive day behind bars. In 2022, he spent 108 days in prison for the same reason.

No explanation given as to why Enoch Burke is still being paid his full salary. Presumably, it’s because he has taken steps to appeal the school’s decision. The judge was told he also hasn’t paid the school’s costs arising from his failed legal battles to date.

Enoch Burke due to be released from prison today. He has spent a total of 402 days behind bars for refusing to abide by an order to stay away from Wilson’s Hospital School. His release was ordered without him purging his contempt because the school is on its summer holidays.

The DPP will appeal the sentence handed down to Cathal Crotty for beating Natasha O’Brien in Limerick. The soldier was given a fully suspended sentence for the unprovoked attack but that will now be appealed on the grounds of undue leniency. A hearing date is yet to be set.

The Court of Appeal has set aside an effective 12-year prison sentence handed down to John McClean (79) for abusing 45 boys during his time as a teacher and rugby coach at Terenure College. The judges agreed it was "unduly severe" and resentenced him to 10.5 years in prison.

Raymond Shorten, the Dublin taxi driver who raped two female passengers in 2022, is also awaiting sentence for raping a 7yo girl over ten years ago. The brave survivor wants to have him named but wishes to maintain her anonymity. He'll be sentenced later this month.
