How do we study FOXG1 in the lab? We reprogram skin cells from FOXG1 patients into stem cells (iPSCs) that can become brain cells—giving us a window into how the syndrome works. #FOXG1research #FOXG1syndrome #FOXG1center

FOXG1 syndrome is caused by a mutation in a single gene on chromosome 14 — but this one gene plays a big role in early brain development. #foxg1syndrome #foxg1awareness #foxg1research #foxg1center #raredisease #rarediseaseawareness #geneticresearch

In between therapies, doctor visits & the unknowns—there are smiles, giggles, cuddles & moments that fill our hearts. We asked FOXG1 parents to share a recent moment of joy… and their answers remind us just how much love and light lives in this community. #foxg1researchcenter

Using a technique called immunohistochemistry (IHC) staining, our researchers can highlight specific proteins in the brain with fluorescent tags. This helps us visualize where FOXG1 is active and how it interacts with other proteins—clues help understand FOXG1 syndrome.

🧬 Why do researchers need iPSCs to study FOXG1 syndrome? Because the brain holds the answers — but we need a safe, ethical way to study it. It’s one of the most powerful tools we have to understand FOXG1 at the cellular level. #foxg1 #foxg1awareness #raredisease

Cryosectioning is the first step in turning brain tissue into ultra-thin slides. Once prepared, the slides can be stained to reveal specific proteins, giving us a detailed view of how FOXG1 mutations affect the brain at the cellular level. #foxg1 #foxg1awareness #foxg1syndrome
