Leaders lying is not leadership. This is the most soul destroying and morale killing thing that leaders could do to healthcare workers. Somehow an icy pole is meant to fix it!!

Most people would expect these simple things from their work but doctors long to have leave, get paid correctly and have enough resources to properly meet patients needs.

I do understand wrestling with mask mandates in various settings, & for different mask strategies in times of lower transmission vs times of higher threat. But in the midst of a pandemic as we still are, reducing requirement for their use is nothing to celebrate. 1/

There will be more transmission as a result, and so more illness & death. I have said before that we may have a longer term baseline COVID mortality (ie, not counting peaks with new variants) of 40 or so per day given what is being tolerated in other comparable countries. 2/

That’s 10,000+ deaths in a year (we are close to 3,000 this year in Australia already). Relaxing public health measures makes this more likely. 3/

These are hard decisions that have clear life-and-death, morbidity, & new variant consequences - especially challenging (frightening in fact) for more vulnerable people in our community. The public narrative should always reflect this angst. 4/end

Hearing a women’s bike race discussed with the same passion & enthusiasm as men’s races, by “regular” cycling fans, is what we said would happen if that race would just get the same coverage. I could not agree more with this guy: women’s road racing is awesome to watch.

You don’t *have* to be a feminist or care at all about any kind of equality to be interested in women’s cycling. It's simply great sport. Not just this race, and not just recently. But the #tdff brings it to a wider audience - at last. A wider audience means more #inspiration

#inspiration is the greatest good pro sport can do. Inspiration for all genders. Now we also see so many brands and sponsors in the bike industry investing more in women’s cycling - thanks to the progress over the past decade and the visibility of this race.

Stopping for a break during my emergency shift, when the roars & rage of the latest violent patient make their way from the ambulance bay, through about 5 walls, to my desk. Rates of violence & aggression in emergency departments have never been higher.
