China had the most positive public attitude towards AI out of 23 countries while the US was second to last in a 2024 survey by Ipsos. And this was before DeepSeek R1. Q: “Products & services using AI make me excited. How much do you agree/disagree?”

I’ve long said what I worried most about re: AI was a weaponised attention grab & AI boyfriends/girlfriends… but I’m still disturbed by the # of people who want AI to be their artificial friend, flirt, companion, or cheerleader & who revolted when their drug (4o) was taken away.

I don’t want to live in a world with “AI relationships.” I understand there’s loneliness & many people lead hard lives — but it is so hard for me to see this AI parasite virus take over vulnerable people’s minds. Deeply irresponsible OpenAI. Cut off the supply 💉💊 #kill4o

Meta is by far my least favorite big tech company and it’s precisely because they’re willing to ship awful, dystopian stuff like this No inspiring vision, just endless slop and a desire to “win”

Very interesting read on the future of war, including how AI-assisted drone warfare is changing the relative state/non-state & offense/defense balance — most notably in Ukraine and in the US/China relationship. Read!

I was mesmerised by this interview and felt HOPE (in 2025!) for our future. Thoughtful, civic, graceful, inclusive and tolerant liberalism is due a renaissance, and Sarah McBride is here to deliver it.

A careful study of every populist episode since 1900 finds catastrophic consequences, which play out slowly. On average, incomes fall behind by nearly 15% over 15 years. For the U.S., this is a cost of about $13k per person per year. Over a lifetime, that's million bucks.

I've been working in policy for about 8 years and it's striking how uninterested the field is with economics. To the extent that economists get invited, it's to justify existing bad ideas ex post. The only exception is maybe central banking. I think part of it is policymakers and

Everyone is getting this Jimmy Kimmel thing wrong. A) It's not cancel culture when it comes from the government. It is censorship and state repression, just like in traditional authoritarian regimes. B) Kimmel wasn't taken off the air for crotizing Kirk. He was taken off for
