Do you have any suggestions for good tutorials on developing machine learning potentials for #ML-literate undergrad students who have not done condensed matter or quantum chemistry courses?

One thing I'd like to see eradicated from math and engineering classes is the definition i=sqrt(-1). It gets you into trouble! i^2 = sqrt(-1) * sqrt(-1) = sqrt((-1) * (-1)) = sqrt(1) = 1 ?? Better define as i^2 = -1; that's all you need. NO MORE sqrt(-1) PLEASE!

Join the dark side of the forces (or not!). TL;DR - Using forces that are not conservative is not a great idea. Latest and greatest, now on the arXiv.org , from Filippo Bigi and marcel ⊙.

📣 now for the good news: I started my first „real“ job today and will work on software solutions for data-driven problems in logistics (and possibly elsewhere). My first impression is really good 🙂. Let’s see how it goes ✌️

More than 40 percent of #postdocs leave academia. Those who landed a coveted faculty position were more likely to have had a highly cited paper, changed their research topic between their #PhD and postdoc, or moved abroad after receiving their doctorate. pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pn…
