I've seen a few papers using Asterisks (*) to denote multiplication in math (😱). 🙏🏽 don't. - Math community established conventions for notation: multiplication: centered dot (⋅), or no symbol, this helps maintain consistency + better readability. - Ambiguity with Convolution.
