Meet the K9 Team at Avon Park CI, always ready, always committed. From tracking and detection to protecting our institutions, these four-legged heroes, such as Nova and Travo, accompanied by their handlers, are a vital part of our public safety mission.

Last night, FDC leadership joined our probation teams in Fort Myers on multiple high risk offender checks, resulting in several arrests, ranging from illegal firearms to drug charges. A special thank you to the Fort Myers Police for joining us and for their continued partnership.

$300K in contraband stopped cold. Thanks to the vigilance,  sharp eyes, and professionalism of Officers Padin and Jackson, a major smuggling attempt was intercepted outside the gates, protecting staff, inmates, and institutional security.

Circuit 09 crushing It! In back-to-back operations with Orlando Police and the SOTEC team, seized drugs, cash, and firearms, leading to multiple arrests. A clear win for public safety.

The SFRC K9 Team and K9 “Dash” joined the St. Francis of Assisi Pet Parade for the annual blessing of animals. Sgt. J. Mendieta, Dash, and the team enjoyed connecting with students and sharing the many blessings FDC K9s bring.

FDC Remembers Correctional Officer Richard James Burke. On October 12, 1980, Officer Burke lost his life in the line of duty after being stabbed by a death row inmate at Florida State Prison. His bravery and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
