I can’t believe I waited till I was almost 69 years old to read Harriet Beecher Stowe’s book “Uncle Tom’s Cabin.” Powerful, emotional, Christian. Should be required reading for 19th century American history. Next to the Bible it was that century’s best selling book.

All this Baptist talk about not citing the entire verse reminds me of a time in college when a girl at the Baptist Student Union said her favorite verse is, "If any man would come after me, let him …." Not too hard to make the Bible confirm our biases.

Just finished Obie Todd’s new book, “The Beechers: America’s Most Influential Family.” Great story of one family’s life interacting with colonialism, westward expansion, slavery/abolition, Civil War, reconstruction, Christianity, and social reform. Great read.

Being a Cowboy fan and annArkansas guy, I found the Netflix documentary intriguing and emotional. One of my favorite parts was hearing the voices of Summerall, Madden, and Enberg. I miss those voices. I also miss the Cowboys winning championships 😁
