Went to the mangroves today. Saw some ant plants. Saw heaps of Narcissus Jewels (what an exquisite creature). Saw no crocodiles. Today was great!

Beautiful fishes

Quite dystopian seeing these obligate coral associated fish swimming amongst dead coral. Coral cover in North Point, Lizard Island, is pretty bleak but there’s still plenty of food for everyone, including many pairs of these blue and orange cuties 🩵🧡

Chaetodon ephippium, the Saddled Butterflyfish A very unusual and oddly coloured species of butterflyfish, and one of my favourites! Not many butterflyfish with dorsal-fin filaments, this being one of a small handful. Very bizarre caudal fin too! Transparent with yellow trim.
