Our High Commissioner Rob Tinline met with Falkland Islands representatives (Falkland Islands Legislative Assembly) in Ottawa today, highlighting the strength of their community and the importance of the islanders’ right to shape their own future.

Last night we welcomed 200 guests to our Annual Reception at Parliament’s Terrace Pavilion, celebrating the Falkland Islands’ role in scientific research. Thanks to speakers Jenny Chapman, Wendy Morton MP & Paul Brickle from SAERI for a fantastic evening of support. 🇫🇰🌍

🌿We're delighted to have been invited last night to Westminster to celebrate the Falkland Islands, a globally significant centre for environmental research and biodiversity.

Yesterday, ahead of Liberation Day, Richard Hyslop, FIG Representative to the UK and Europe , and Tom Herring, Chair of The South Atlantic Medal Association 1982 (SAMA82), laid wreaths at the South Atlantic Memorial at St Paul’s Cathedral. It was a moving but small service of remembrance. We Will Remember Them.

On this day in 1982, British forces attacked Argentine positions at Mount Tumbledown and Wireless Ridge with the loss of 13 lives. Some of the final actions before the liberation of the Falkland Islands, we remember all those who served and lost their lives. 🇫🇰🇬🇧 #Falklands43

43 years ago today, the Falkland Islands were liberated after 255 UK servicemen & 3 Falkland Islanders lost their lives. We will never forget their sacrifice and bravery that restored our freedom. We Will Remember Them.
