This is me and a friend, looking out over the city, probably contemplating how I will be reminding everyone that it's 4 days to abstract deadline for WFNS Cape Town! About an hour's jog from the venue. #wfns2023 #capetown

This was from a safari trip. Late afternoon, suddenly surrounded by an incredibly quiet herd of 30+ elephants. If you've never been to the African Bush, you need to go. It will reconfigure your mind and soul. Another reason to submit your abstract by tomorrow! #WFNS2023

Excellent panel this morning at WFNS2023 on Sustaining your career in Neurosurgery. Things rarely heard discussed, wonderful honesty and openness. Kate Drummond, Shlomi Constantini, Chandrashekar Deopujari, Nelci Zanon, Andre Grotenhuis, Sarah Olson. Great international couch!

Rick Boop WFNS 2023. 80% of cancer in children occurs in LMICs. In HICs, 80% survive; in LMICs, 20%. Of all cancers, brain tumors are the leading cause of childhood cancer deaths. What we need to do should be clear.

I'm incredibly grateful to the Wellcome Trust for backing our team in this. Great opportunity to learn more about the brain, but mostly to make a difference in peoples' lives. Massive privilege capetown.today/triumph-in-aca…

For those of you who need to be reminded of what a vibrant, diverse, and connected global neurosurgery community can be, here are some snapshots of our World Congress in Cape Town in December. If we could only recapture the Ubuntu...youtu.be/t1BFUCH2YjU

Today we beat Ukraine at the World Aquatics women's U16 waterpolo tournament, but it was bittersweet. What heartened me was that the SA fans included the few Ukrainian supporters, cheered for their team & gave their players a walk of honour covered in both flags. That's sport

One of our fave weeks of the year - Yabonga Children's Project filled our building with 90 highschoolers for 2 days & the African Brain Child team (and other NI researchers) made them all fall in love with the brain. 💞 🧠 💓 A snippet from last year: tinyurl.com/45mjx8mh
