11-20% ABV drinks like Aperol, Campari, Cynar, etc are great in the sense that you can drink an infinite amount and never get more than slightly tipsy. Plus they don’t fill you up with gas like beer. Aperol especially, you can legit go non stop for hours without pacing yourself

Never do I feel like more of a pseud than when mutuals post about African, Middle eastern or Asian countries. Really need to read a bunch of general history books about the regions to at least get an overview, rn everything east of germany is a black hole

I think any candidate has to be a monarch or similar hereditary position, in the sense that all other elected officials at least succeeded in getting elected

Balerion the Black Dread was a goated dragon name, credits to GRRM. Only better ones i’ve seen are Slifer the Sky Dragon and The Winged Dragon of Ra

Historical GDP reconstructions seem totally worthless unless you have reason to believe a significant amount of production and exchange took place via markets. It’s prices that make the metric powerful, if most activity is for example subsistence farming then it doesn’t say much

“Printing money” is one of those phrases that’s annoying in that it’s used for like three different things. From conventional monetary policy, quantitative easing, or straight up seigniorage. When pundits use it casual readers always assume they mean the latter usage

Athens being high up isn’t really bleak the way Sparta is. Bad stuff about Athens isn’t really known much, I’d wager most the average person just associates Athens with democracy (doesn’t know the details) and the math and philosophy they learned in school. Maybe Athena too

The fact that central banks round the world can succeed at inflation targeting is very strong evidence that they both know how to cause it and how to counteract it. If they didn’t, inflation wouldn’t stay on target! Any theory of how the macroeconomy works must contend with this

They should make a game of thrones trading card game. If you unite in your hand Robb’s arms, legs and Grey Wind’s head you win the game “King in the North: Obliterate”

This sport totally destroys the brain, I’ve been buzzing since yesterday’s partial victory, can’t imagine what it’d feel like to win the cup

It’s the only alcoholic drink aside from a few cocktails that I occasionally get the urge to drink purely because I love the taste. Other stuff is ~fine but I more tolerate it to get drunk, beer is actually delicious
